ATT Samsung Galaxy Note Available In ATT Stores On February 19

ATT Samsung Galaxy Note

Samsung Galxy Note features a 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED™ screen (1280x800)  one of the largest screens on a smartphone and is easy to read both indoors and out.  You may be wondering if a smartphone with a 5.3 inch-screen is huge!  Guess what… it is and that’s what makes it awesome. When you start using it, it feels smaller in your hand.  And these days, with everything we do on our phones, a smaller screen isn’t always our top priority.

Note also includes an amazing, new generation pen, made especially for those of us who need to jot down a few quick notes but don’t have a pen and pad handy.  Note’s S Pen™ can be used to sketch drawings, write notes, or compose emails and texts in free-form handwriting.  The S Memo™ app lets you compile  your pictures, screen shots, voice recordings, typed text, handwritten notes or drawings – and turns them into a ‘memo’ that can easily be shared.

Check out the Mobile Minute or our press release for more details -- and get your hands on the Note in ATT stores beginning Feb. 19!

ATT Wi-Fi Connected With 1.2 Billion Customer

ATT Wi-Fi Network

ATT GO.. (ATT Press Release).. As more and more consumers log-on from smartphones, tablets and other devices, connections on the ATT Wi-Fi network continue to skyrocket.
Key facts as of year-end 2011:
  • Nearly tripled ATT Wi-Fi network traffic in 2011 versus network traffic for 2010.
  • More than 550 percent increase in data uploads from mobile devices on the ATT Wi-Fi network in 2011.
  • 1.2 billion ATT Wi-Fi connections made during 2011, with 486.9 million connections made in the fourth quarter.
  • Connections more than tripled in the fourth quarter versus 154 million connections made in the fourth quarter 2010.
  • More than three million connections per day to the ATT Wi-Fi Network by users, exceeding total connections made in the month of December in 2008.
  • More than 60 percent growth in ATT Wi-Fi Hot Spots from 2008 through 2011.
“As ATT Wi-Fi connections and usage soar at hospitality locations, retail stores, stadiums and enterprise businesses, venues are benefitting by making Wi-Fi available to their customers and employees,” said Angie Wiskocil, Senior Vice President, ATT Wi-Fi Services. “This extraordinary growth confirms that customers understand the benefits of ATT Wi-Fi. It’s fast, reliable and convenient access that doesn’t count against their monthly data plans. ”
The ATT Wi-Fi network continues to scale rapidly. ATT customers can connect to the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network with 30,000 ATT Wi-Fi Hot Spots and growing. Most ATT smartphone customers get access to our entire national Wi-Fi network at no additional cost, and Wi-Fi usage doesn’t count against customers’ monthly wireless data plans. ATT Wi-Fi data traffic increased more than five times (550 percent) in the fourth quarter of 2011, driven by increasing use of cloud services. ATT customers continue to rely on the Wi-Fi network to sync photos, stream movies and music, update software, and back-up and share data on smartphones, tablets and laptops.
ATT continues to be the only major mobile operator deploying free Wi-Fi hotzones to provide convenient connectivity for ATT customers in high traffic areas. Just this week, ATT launched a new Wi-Fi hotzone in downtown Indianapolis to support high profile events in the area in coming weeks. The seventh major market hotzone adds to those already available in key cities like Palo Alto, San Francisco, Chicago and New York City. To date, ATT has launched free Wi-Fi at 19 park locations in New York City. In 2011, New York City parks visitors made more than 1 million connections to the ATT Wi-Fi network.
More large venues and enterprises are choosing ATT Wi-Fi Services to deploy and manage their Wi-Fi networks. This quarter, ATT announced an agreement with Xcel Energy Center to offer ATT Wi-Fi inside the stadium to keep high-density crowds connected and engaged with the arena experience.
Additionally, ATT completed its deal to acquire Montreal-based Wi-Fi management services provider Superclick, Inc., which will expand our services and platforms to deliver premium services in the high-end hospitality sector, domestically and internationally. According to a recent J.D. Power and Associates study, Internet access was ranked as the most important hotel amenity by guests. In fact, hotel locations account for approximately 45 percent of the total ATT Wi-Fi network traffic, driven by business travelers and longer connection times during guests’ stay.

Nokia Lumia 910 Will Come To ATT

ATT Nokia Lumia 910

The Nokia Lumia 910, the Finnish manufacturer’s initial smartphone with LTE support, are going to be on sale within the united states starting in March. The version of ATT Windows Phone Terminal 7.5 for the ecu market should be named Lumia 910 and integrate a twelve Megapixel camera back.

A Dutch retailer has posted on its website footage and specifications of Nokia Lumia 910. the only variations between the two product would be twelve Megapixel camera and therefore the lack of support for LTE networks, not however widespread in Europe. The optical sensor of the camera may be a dead ringer for the one integrated within the Nokia N8.

Nokia Lumia 910 Features: 1.4 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM, 16 GB of internal memory, a 1.3 Megapixel camera, front from AMOLED ClearBlack by 4.3 inches (480 × 800 pixels), 1,830 mAh battery. The radio module will be compatible with 3 g HSDPA networks up to 21 Mbps.

ATT HTC 2 Is Great On FCC With ATT LTE

ATT HTC Titan 2

The ATT HTC Titan II Windows Phone with ATT LTE (bands 4 and 17) exposure in the hallowed halls of the FCC? Why, this should be the Titan II, announced a tad over a fortnight ago. Docs show that a production unit of the device, sporting the aforementioned LTE bands furthermore as 850 / 1900 3G also ATT compatible, is prepared to take on its new ATT Windows Phone competition someday soon. Is it a guarantee that the phone is nigh at hand? not quite, but at least it signifies that the sixteen megapixel beast is one step closer to exposure in our hands.

ATT And T-Mobile Merger Failure Effects

ATT And T-Mobile

One of the things that people questioned about ATT wanting to buy T-Mobile was that ATT claimed that they needed the additional spectrum that they would acquire in order to meet customer need, when it was demonstrable that they could re-engineer their network and spectrum use, and expand their network in to spectrum that they already owned, for less than it would cost to buy T-Mobile.

And now they're pouting and threatening to raise prices.

They lost a lot of customers when the merger was announced, and they're going to lose more.

The interesting thing is that this really demonstrates how bad the management philosophy and practices are at ATT. Years ago, ATT Wireless tried to implement a new CRM (customer relation management) system to provide better service to their customer base. When you call in with a question about your bill or to modify your service, this is all handled through their CRM system. Well, the implementation was totally botched. It was well past schedule, massively over-budget, and it didn't work. And ATT Wireless was sold to Cingulair. From all reports, Cingulair provided pretty good customer service and they were very profitable. Which made them a ripe target and ATT bought Cingulair out and re-invented ATT Wireless.

And now ATT Wireless is going back down the same road. They don't seem to have learned that providing good service will make you profitable, instead they're trying to buy out competitors instead of providing the service that their customers expect and that other wireless carriers deliver.

I am SO glad that I switched to Verizon after my carrier was bought out by ATT, not that I'm 100% happy with them.

ATT Unity Plan Now Available

ATT Unity Plan

ATT is back in the wireless business: and with the launch of the ATT Unity plan, ATT is already showing its traditional spirit of innovation. Announced on January 19, 2007, ATT Unity will, in one sweep, create the largest free, unlimited-calling community in America.

The name ATT has been absent from the cell phone marketplace for a few years, after its name had been replaced by Cingular Wireless. now, a recent merger between ATT and BellSouth has changed the situation. in the course of 2007, the ATT brand will gradually replace the Cingular Wireless trade-name.
And with the announcement of the Unity plan, the name ATT Wireless is reentering the cell phone market with a bang.

The ATT Unity Plan: Unlimited Free Calling from and to Cell Phone and Wirelines

The main feature of the ATT Unity plan is that is allows customers to place and receive unlimited calls to all ATT and Cingular Wireless cell phone numbers as well as to all ATT wirelines.

While, previously, unlimited cell phone calling was only available to other cell phones within the same network, the ATT Unity program extends this benefit to all lines, including wireless, wirelines or land-lines, homes, businesses–in short, any phone number on the ATT or Cingular network. by doing so, it also offers subscribers a single, consolidated phone bill that includes both the cell phone and land line.

With the size of the ATT customer base, this is a real, tangible advantage for tens of millions of individual customers and families. More than two years ago, Cingular Wireless, now the new ATT, raised the bar by creating the largest unlimited wireless calling community in America, said Edward E. Whitacre Jr., chairman and CEO of ATT. [This is] a feat no competitor has been able to duplicate. With ATT Unity, we are raising the bar even higher by adding unlimited domestic calling to and from ATT wireline customers.
And by consolidating the user’s or family’s cell phone and land-line bill, the new ATT Unity offers convenience as well as an easy way to keep communication costs efficient and under control.

Signing up for the ATT Unity Plans

The ATT Unity plan has been made available starting January 21, 2007. It may be purchased by qualified ATT and Cingular Wireless subscribers who are also signed up for ATT wireline services. ATT Unity is available both as an individual plan and as a family plan; users can choose between different levels offering up to 6,000 anytime minutes, nationwide long distance, roaming, voice mail, call forwarding, call waiting, 3-way calling and caller ID.

ATT Unity Plan is available to qualified cell phone, business and residential customers; however, it may not be purchased in conjunction with a prepaid cell phone, it is not yet available in all areas, and specific features may vary by region.

Motorolla HD Multimedia Dock For ATT Motorolla Atrix 4G

Motorolla HD Multimedia Dock

Let the ATT Motorola Atrix 4G ecosystem redefine the line between your laptop and your smartphone with Motorolla HD Multimedia Dock. With a suite of smart accessories and the unique webtop application, you now have the freedom to access and manage your files, photos, emails and the web on a larger screen with a full keyboard, virtually anywhere you go. The ATT Motorola Atrix 4G is the first smartphone with dual-core processing and webtop, an application that mobilizes your desktop. And with compatible accessories designed to get the most out of the Atrix 4G, you will learn just how brilliant a smartphone can be.
HD dock features standard HDMI port and room for up to three USB devices
Motorolla HD Features :
- playing movies and showing pictures (just as if you connect the regular HDMI cable)
- full access the the mobile view (as visible on the phone display)
- access to documents
- full Firefox web browser and all on the big screen - nice.
So far so good. I nevertheless was disappointed and returned the item.
First of all I was already upset, that you have to buy a Media Dock at all to access the WebTop functions. Why isn't connecting the HDMI cable enough?

But one of my intents was to take this thing with me on the road and if necessary connect it to a TV or projector to give a little demo of a web application and show some PowerPoints - kind of a nice gimmick to use a phone for this instead of unpacking a notebook and so forth. But to use the Firefox browser you will need either a WiFi connection or you are required to have an "appropriate" ATT data plan - you will see this message the first time you open up the Firefox browser. I have an unlimited data plan from AT&T, but that is not approriate enough, you will need a plan that includes tethering which would add another $20 on top every month.

iPad 3 Release Date Rumour

iPad 3 Release Date

Apple Inc.’s next iPad tablet, due in March, will sport a high-definition screen, run a faster processor and work with long-term evolution wireless networks, according to three people familiar with the product. [...] The tablet will use a quad-core chip, an enhancement that lets users more quickly jump between applications, two of the people said.”

Almost all the features I listed above have been talked about previously, but the LTE rumor is really curious. iPhone in itself doesn’t even support LTE yet, so how do you think the iPad will? Bloomberg provides additional details:

Apple is bringing LTE to the iPad before the iPhone because the tablet has a bigger battery and can better support the power requirements of the newer technology, said one of the people.

The new display is capable of greater resolution than the current iPad, with more pixels on its screen than some high- definition televisions, the person said. The pixels are small enough to make the images look like printed material, according to the person. Videos begin playing almost instantly because of the additional graphics processing, the person said.

Absinthe A5 Jailbreak Now Available For iPhone 4S and iPad 2

Absinthe Jailbreak

The Chronic Dev Team has announced that its latest tool, the Absinthe A5 jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 devices, is now available. The tool is designed to perform an untethered jailbreak on those A5-equipped devices.

Jailbreaking is the process by which an iOS devices software is altered to allow the installation of third-party applications un-approved by Apple. Some popular examples of these include data tethering applications that are not dependent on carrier support, themes and skins that alter the appearance of a device and various utilities that extend the capabilities of iOS.

The road has been relatively long, with several roadblocks along the way preventing the team from getting the jailbreak out sooner, many of them having to do with the A5 processor in Apple’s newer devices. A veritable ‘who’s who’ of iOs device jailbreakers worked on this jailbreak with the Chronic Dev Team including saurik & MuscleNerd, both core members of iPhone Dev Team and hackers pod2G and planetbeing.

This jailbreak is untethered, which means that you don’t have to have your device plugged in to a computer to reboot. It is intended for the following devices running Apple’s A5 processor:
  • iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0 build 9A334
  • iPhone 4S on iOS 5.0.1, both the 9A405 and 9A406builds.
  • iPad 2 on iOS 5.0.1 build 9A405.
You can download the Absinthe A5 jailbreak from the Greenpois0n site. If you’re unfamiliar with the jailbreak process, please do note that jailbreaking voids your warranty although, if done properly, it is normally a reversible process.
I must note that the jailbreak process, while normally benign, is not for people that want a ‘fuss free’ iOS experience. Simply put: If you jailbreak your device, you open yourself up to a variety of issues in usability, with a tradeoff of extended customizability. Many ‘real’ official apps for iOS may have issues related to the jailbreak itself or various tweaks that you install from the jailbreak app store Cydia.

ATT Launch The New Data Plans For Smartphones And Tablets

ATT Data Plans

When our friends over at The Verge got wind of a price change coming to ATT’s data plans, ATT responded that it was “an error. There are no changes to our data plans.” What they should’ve said was “There are no changes to our data plans… yet.”
ATT has just announced a new set of ATT data plans for smartphones and tablets. As you’d probably guess, they’re a bit pricier than those they replace. On the upside, they’re cheaper per megabyte.
The Old Plans:
  • $15 for 200MB ($0.075 per megabyte)
  • $25 for 2GB ($0.012 per megabyte)
  • $45 for 4GB with Tethering ($0.010 per megabyte)
The New Plans:
  • $20 for 300MB ($0.06 per megabyte)
  • $30 for 3GB ($0.0099 per megabyte, or slightly less than a penny)
  • $50 for 5GB with Tethering ($0.0097 per megabyte)
(Note: Only the latter two in each category are available for tablets. The old $15/250MB plan for tablets will continue to exist in place of this new one.)
In the end, each plan gets bumped up $5 for a slightly larger helping of data. Current customers can keep their existing plans, though you’ll almost certainly have to pay for the pricier new option if you’re looking to enable/disable tethering on your account. I’d find some reason to be outraged — but really, when you’re already paying through the nose for data, it’s hard to be surprised when they come back around with bigger coffers.
The plans will launch for new customers this Sunday.
